(Harrisburg) — Tax-filing season in Pennsylvania began January 22nd and runs through the April 17th deadline to file state income tax returns.

Pennsylvania Department of Revenue spoksman Jeffrey Johnson says most people file their state tax returns electronically.

“The important thing to recognize is that of you are expecting a refund,.. that is the quickest way to proceed to insure that the refund will be processed as quickly as possible,” he said.

Another benefit of filing electronically through the department’s website, revenue.pa.gov, is that all the calculations are done for you.

Johnson urges Pennsylvania tax filers not to wait to the last minute to file, which helps the department in processing the 6-and-a-half million tax returns it receives each year.
