(Carlisle) — An investigation is underway after a state police station in the midstate was evacuated for several hours yesterday, due to a suspicious package.
The State Police Carlisle Station in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County was cleared out just after 2:00 p.m., after an envelope addressed to a trooper at the station was opened.
The unidentified trooper immediately became ill.
Another trooper and a civilian employee were also affected.
All three were transported to the Carlisle Regional Medical Center and were later released.
The Cumberland County Hazmat team cleared the scene, while firefighters checked the station’s ventilation system.
