Fundraiser launched to assist family of fallen U.S. Marshal

(Harrisburg ) — A New York-based foundation is pledging to pay off the mortgage for the Deputy U.S. Marshal who was killed in the line of duty in Harrisburg.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation was created to honor the sacrifice of first responders after the September 11th terrorist attacks.
The nonprofit is committing $100,000 to help the family of Deputy Christopher Hill pay off their home in York County.
COO John Hodge says Hill and his family are perfect candidates for assistance.
“He was a former member of the military, he was a veteran. He was in law enforcement, he was a first responder. And he was in the process of serving a warrant, although all the details aren’t out yet, he was serving a warrant that involved terroristic threats,” Hodge said.
Hodge says at least an additional $100,000 may be needed to close out the mortgage.
“And we’re asking everyone within the sound of my voice…if we can take the burden from this family just a little bit and bring a little joy into their life by providing them with a debt-free home, we’re asking people to please assist us,” Hodge said.
Hill was shot and killed while serving an arrest warrant for a woman in Harrisburg’s Allison Hill neighborhood
A York City police officer was also injured.
Hill served in the U.S. Army before joining the marshal service in 2006. He also played a key role several years ago in the search for the man who ambushed a state police barracks in Pike County.
Hill is survived by a wife and two children.
