(Harrisburg) — State officials are reminding claimants and employers that the Unemployment Compensation Amnesty program ends September 30th.

The program’s mission is to recover funds owed to the commonwealth’s UC Trust Fund.

651-million dollars, either overpaid or improperly claimed is owed.

More than 139-thousand claimants and nearly 39-thousand employers have been informed of the program, how much they owe and how they may pay it back.

Department of Labor & Industry Acting Secretary Jerry Oleksiak says not doing so could cause problems in the future.

“It could have an adverse impact going forward on both their credit rating and their ability to collect benefits later on,” he said.

This is the second UC Amnesty program.  The first was launched in 2013, and brought in more than fifteen million dollars in outstanding overpayments and tax liabilities.
