(Hanover) — WellSpan Health is planning to construct a $49 million outpatient health care facility in Penn Township.

The 80,000 square-foot WellSpan Hanover Health Center on Baltimore Street will house operating and specialty procedure rooms, and space for laboratory services and diagnostic imaging services, including mammography, CT scans and MRI.

The building also will include offices for primary care physicians and specialists in obstetrics-gynecology and cardiology, WellSpan said in a news release.

Construction is slated to start this fall, pending final approvals, with completion slated for fall 2018.

The building will be built in phases. The first to open will be the lab and imaging services and surgical suite, WellSpan said.

“WellSpan has been caring for Hanover area residents for nearly 140 years, and this project reflects our long-term commitment to those who live and work here,” Dr. Kevin Mosser, president and CEO of WellSpan Health, said in the release. “Through this new health center, WellSpan will bring even more advanced specialty care to the greater Hanover community, because we believe no one should have to leave York County to get the care they need.”
