Residents return home following Steelton gas leak

(Steelton) — 62 residents of Steelton, Dauphin County were allowed to return to their homes last light.

They had been evacuated since Friday afternoon due to a propane leak at a UGI facility in the area of Front and Second Streets.

Officials say the leak occured Friday as workers were unloading a propane tank from a rail car.

According to the boroughs website, the contents of the leaking tank were sucessfully transferred and air quality checks concluded the area was safe for re-entry.

A portion of Route 230 and other roads that had been closed due to the incident have been reopened.
