(Steelton) — Route 230, or Front Street, in Steelton, Dauphin County remains closed as emergency crews continue to work on a propane leak that occured yesterday afternoon near North Front and Franklin Streets.

The leak forced the evacuation of residents living in the area and they remain out of their homes today.

The Steelton Highspire Elementary School is being used as an evacuation center.

Mayor Mary Marcinko said this morning on the borough’s website, www.steeltonpa.com,  that they are still dealing with an active emergency.

She said all residents need to heed the evacuation area for your safety.
