What to look for on Smart Talk Wednesday, June 21, 2017:

June’s Smart Talk Road Trip takes the show to Lititz in Lancaster County Wednesday.

Lititz combines history and today’s cool factor about as well as any town in the Central Pennsylvania region.  In fact, in a national vote by readers of Budget Travel Magazine a few years ago, Lititz was named as the “Coolest Small Town In America.”

It’s one of the topics we’ll discuss on Smart Talk — what makes Lititz so cool and unique?

But history is a big part of the broadcast Wednesday.  We’re live from the historic General Sutter Inn to talk about it’s namesake, gold and ghosts.  Lititz’s history is fascinating too.  The town is famous for its Independence Day celebrations at Lititz Springs Park and throughout the community.  Started in 1811, the Fourth of July celebration is one of the oldest and best known in the country.  But there could be big changes on the way for the Independence Day fireworks.

Appearing on the program are Cory Van Brookhaven, President of the Lititz Historical Foundation, Dave and Susan Stoudt, owners of the General Sutter Inn and Bull’s Head Tavern, Tim Reedy, Chair of the July 4th Celebration in Lititz, Jim Wenger, President of Venture Lititz and Karen Weibel, President of the Lititz Borough Council.
