Wolf’s pick for new agency: “excited and incredibly overwhelmed”

Governor Tom Wolf added a key detail to his plan to consolidate four agencies into one: a potential leader.

Wolf says he’ll nominate Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller to lead what would be the Department of Health and Human Services.

His proposal to consolidate the departments of health, human services, aging, and drug and alcohol programs still needs legislative approval.

But with Wolf’s announcement last week, Miller can now lobby legislators to okay the consolidation.

Transforming Health’s Ben Allen recently sat down with Miller in her downtown Harrisburg office.
