(Harrisburg) — The York County Prison Board has voted unanimously to promote 43-year-old Clair Doll to warden.

Doll, of Manchester Township, has been the deputy warden of treatment at the prison since 2008.

He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from York College and a master’s degree in justice at Shippensburg University. He’s been with the prison since 1997.

Doll has been critical in implementing treatment programs, including one that offers Vivitrol for work release inmates. Vivitrol is a drug that blocks opioid receptors in the brain and is used to keep people from relapsing into addiction.

The prison board has been working for several months with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections throughout its leadership transition.

Addressing prison leadership on Wednesday, Doll said change can be good but it can be tough.
