State park and state forest rangers to carry naloxone

(Harrisburg) — State park and state forest rangers will soon carry a lifesaving drug that can revive someone after an opioid overdose.
Governor Tom Wolf announced that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will train and equip 300 employees with naloxone.
The state says since 2015, seven people have died of drug overdoses on DCNR lands, and more than a dozen incidents have required assistance.
The news comes as more people have been dying from the opioid epidemic.
York County has counted at least 41 deaths from heroin-related overdoses, compared to 76 all of last year.
In Lancaster County, LNP reports there were 50 fatal overdoses through the first three months of the year – putting the county on pace to double last year’s total.
