Police seeking help investigating York County homicide

{West Manchester Township –} Police have hit a wall in their investigation into the killing of a 23-year-old man whose body was found on fire over a week ago a mile and a half from the York County fairgrounds.

They’re not sure how Juan Acevedo DeJesus ended up there because he has no ties to the area.

West Manchester Police also don’t know where, exactly, Acevedo DeJesus was killed.

What they do know is that he was living alone in Philadelphia, the same city as his father, working odd jobs like detailing cars and driving a tow truck. His other relatives are in Puerto Rico.

Investigators also don’t believe this was random. They think someone targeted Acevedo DeJesus, who has next to no criminal history aside from one arrest by Philadelphia police.

West Manchester Detective Jeff Snell declined to provide details about the charge or additional information surrounding their belief Acevedo DeJesus was targeted.

Snell says he believes Acevedo DeJesus’ killers burned his body to try to destroy evidence. Snell says they used an accelerant, although what kind is unknown pending state police lab test results.

Police found the victim around 4:30 a.m. last Thursday, 15 feet from the intersection of Hokes Mill and Old Salem roads.
