7,000 more people in Pa. enroll in ACA plans compared to 2016
(Harrisburg) — More than 415,000 people in Pennsylvania have picked an insurance plan for 2017 on healthcare.gov.
That’s an increase of about 7,000 people compared to the same period last year.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released the numbers today, which cover plans chosen between November 1, 2016 and December 24th.
About one-fifth of the health care shoppers are new to the exchange.
The numbers don’t detail how many people paid a premium to actually enroll in a health plan that starts coverage this month.
Republicans in Congress are negotiating a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, with a replacement plan in the works.
But Pennsylvania’s top insurance regulator has warned GOP leaders that if a deal isn’t set within the next couple months, insurers in Pennsylvania may stop selling plans on healthcare.gov, starting in 20-18.
