(Pasadena, CA) — Penn State and USC later today in the 103rd edition of the Rose Bowl may be one of the top bowl game match-ups in all of college football this year.

It features two teams that got to Pasadena in much the same way and both are playing some of the best football in the country.

“You can make an argument that if you just take where teams are at at the end of the season, and don’t talk about overall records, but just say who are the best teams in college football right now, you could make an argument that USC would be in that conversation,” said Penn State Head Coach James Franklin.

But Franklin could have been talking about the Lions as well.

Both teams started slowly and ended perfect.  Penn State has won nine in a row, USC eight.

Both teams have endured coaching changes.  Both have rallied behind an untested quarterback.

Even many statisical categories such as average offensive yards per game, yards allowed, average points scored and points allowed are incredibly similar.

The last time these two teams met was in the 2009 Rose Bowl won by USC 38-24.

Kickoff today is at 5pm.
