Lancaster parking tickets jumping, Harrisburg makes changes too

(Harrisburg) — The new year will bring some changes to parking systems in two midstate cities.

Lancaster Parking Authority, which is taking control of parking enforcement in the city, is boosting tickets to $20. Lancaster City Council could also soon consider an ordinance that would boost some tickets to $100, for cars parked illegally near the Central Market.

Drivers also will have to pay for parking using the car’s license plate, instead of the number of the space they parked in.

And Lancaster will start using plates instead of stickers for residential parking permits.

Meanwhile, Standard Parking is raising rates for garages and off-street parking in Harrisburg.

Monthly rates will increase by $10, and it will now cost $10 to park for two hours in a garage.
