Penn State’s Saquon Barkley carries the ball for a touchdown against Iowa in the first half of an NCAA Division I college football game Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Beaver Stadium.

(State College) — Saquon Barkley accounted for 211 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns as 20th ranked Penn State beat Iowa 41-14 Saturday night at Beaver Stadium.

It was the Lions 5th straight victory and 6th straight win at home.

Quarterback Trace McSorley continued his solid play, throwing for 240 yards and two touchdowns.  He also ran for a touchdown as Penn State racked up 599 yards of total offense against the bewildered Hawkeyes.

On the other side of the ball, the Penn State defense held Iowa to just 234 total yards, including just 30 on the ground.

Head coach James Franklin said he is very happy with the growth of his young team over the past few weeks.

“We are getting better.  I think we’re getting better every single day, we’re getting better every single practice.  Our approach, our mentality, our trust and belief in one another, our confidence,.. we’re getting better,” he said.

Barkley’s 167 yards rushing put him over the 1,000 yard mark for the season.  He’s also scored 13 times.

The 599 yards of offense was the most since the Rutgers game in 1995.

Penn State is now 7-2.

Next up, the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington next Saturday.  Kickoff is at noon.
