(Harrisburg) — A Harrisburg Police corporal is charged with stealing money seized during recent undercover operations.

44-year-old Sean Cornick has worked for the department for 19 years.

Prosecutors say a videotape shows Cornick taking money out of a department evidence locker that he believed was seized in a drug investigation.

Per department policy, the city says Cornick is suspended with pay.

Police Chief Thomas Carter says other agencies assisted in the more than six-month investigation, including the FBI and State Police.

Mayor Eric Papenfuse says there’s no tolerance for corruption, and adds the city is looking at how to strengthen internal controls.
