Black Out to be allowed in Christmas parade

(Chambersburg) — The Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg reversed its decision to not allow Black Out, a black semi truck, in this year’s Christmas parade.

According to Chuck Timbrook, owner of Black Out, the council emailed him early this morning and told him he could participate in the parade if he did not blow the train horns and decorated his truck with a wreath.

“Thank you for your response and willingness to both refrain from using air horns and decorate your entry for the Christmas parade,” the email to Timbrook said. “The noise proved to upset younger parade participants and prevent our bands, that work so hard to compete in the parade, from being heard.”

Timbrook said he posted on his Facebook page about the new decision, and his page, once again, has “blown up” with people showing their support for Black Out. He said the post has received a lot of replies and has been shared multiple times.

Timbrook also said he is excited his truck will be allowed to participate in the parade again this year.

“I’m tickled to death for the people that respect and support the truck that I can be there for that,” he said.

Like last year, Timbrook still plans to play the National Anthem for attendees. He also expects that the turnout for this year’s parade will be even bigger than last year, because attendees now know he will stop and play the National Anthem.
