Pa. Democrats pick replacement for Rep. Schreiber on November ballot

(York) — After state representative Kevin Schreiber announced he was leaving at the end of his term to work for an economic development firm, Democrats in York County were forced to scramble to find a new candidate.
Now, they have their choice.
York City Council President Carol Hill-Evans will run on the Democratic line in the 95th House district, which includes much of the city.
The county’s Democratic Party selected her out of six people who applied for the job.
But a 50-member committee from the state party had to approve the move, and Brandon Cwalina with the party says it was an easy decision…
“Ms. Hill-Evans is an incredibly strong candidate and we are happy to support her. And the 95th House Democrat is usually democratic, and we intend to keep it that way.”
A Republican hasn’t held the seat since 1984.
Cwalina says Hill-Evans’s public service elevated her above other candidates.
She’s been on York City Council since 2008 and will face Republican Joel Sears in November.
