Gunshots often heard on property of Franklin County homicide

There are so far few answers behind an incident at a Montgomery Township property that left three people dead from gunshot wounds Saturday
(Undated) — Neighbors to the property where three people were shot fatally on Saturday are at a loss to understand what happened.
Phillip Jackson and his family had moved less than a year ago to 11026 Welsh Run Road, in a rural neighborhood where homeowners keep chickens and their dogs occasionally get loose.
Neighbors said that gunshots were often heard at the property, but those at home on Monday said they had heard nothing Saturday night.
Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, said they responded to a call for gunshots at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night and found Jackson, 36, severely injured from a gunshot wound. He later died from the injury at York Hospital. A man and a woman also were found dead in the barn on his property. Wendy Chaney, 39, of Elizabeth Street, Hagerstown, Md., and Brandon Cole, 47, of Mountain Shadow Circle, Fayetteville, were shot.
Police have said the suspect in the shootings is unknown. They have characterized the incident simply as “homicide.” The Franklin County Coroner’s office on Monday remained on the property, securing it as an active crime scene.
Some neighbors previously had complained to authorities about the noise of gunshots coming from the property, particularly in the evenings. About three months ago they spoke out during a meeting of the Montgomery Township supervisors. Supervisors took no action.
“The township solicitor advised them on how to proceed,” Supervisor Larry Rife said. “We don’t know anything. We never met him. It’s going to take a while for this to sort out.”
Phillip and Amber Jackson bought the 6.6 acres for $345,000 on Aug. 14, according to Franklin County courthouse records.
Two houses and a barn can be seen from the road. Neighbors said Phillip Jackson had young children and several dogs. A trampoline and above-ground pool are set up between the main house and barn.
