Pa. Senate panel advances plan for lead task force
(Harrisburg) — A state Senate panel has approved a measure to create a task force to study the lead problem in Pennsylvania.
The Public Health and Welfare Committee gave the okay to the proposal, known as Senate Bill 16, by unanimous vote.
The legislation would create a 21-member task force to study the age of Pennsylvania’s housing stock, lead pipes, school buildings and daycare centers.
The group would examine best practices and make recommendations in a final report to the Governor and General Assembly by December 2017.
The measure now goes to the full Senate.
