(Carlisle) — A midstate county is trying to push transit regionalization forward.

The Cumberland County Commissioners are endorsing a plan to consolidate transit services in five midstate counties — Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Adams and Franklin.

PennDOT has developed a plan for the initiative.

Cumberland County says it wants the partnership to take effect by July of next year.

It estimates it can save up to $2 million over the next decade.

Other counties have expressed interest in regionalization, but haven’t formally committed to a plan.
