Dauphin County says outside judge will handle Penn State case

(Harrisburg) — An outside judge will handle a case involving three Penn State administrators who are charged in connection with the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Dauphin County President Judge Richard Lewis announced the decision today, saying it makes sense given the intricacy of the case, vacancies on the county’s bench, as well as the county court system’s heavy case load.

He say the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts will decide which judge will take the case.

A decision should be announced in the coming weeks.

Former president Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley are charged with failing to report suspected child abuse and endangering the welfare of children, along with a perjury count against Curley.
