Summer-like weather forecast for long holiday weekend

(Harrisburg) — Spring has been missing for much of the last couple of months, but there could be a bright spot around the corner: the long Memorial Day weekend could bring sun and warmer temperatures

Remember that round orb called the sun?

It was bright?

Required you to wear these special kind of glasses called sunglasses?

Yeah, it’s been showing up a little more this week, and it’s at least in the forecast through Memorial Day on Monday.

Let’s note though, that some clouds are expected, and a scattered thunderstorm in the afternoon might pop up over the next couple of days.

Meteorologist Rob Radzanowski with the National Weather Service in State College says while the wet and dreary days carried on for much of the past month, they served a purpose…

“We were pretty dry coming out of wintertime this year, and so this wet spell we’ve had over the last month or so has helped things out. We’re still a bit below normal as far as overall precipitation but we’re not too bad off right now,” says Radzanowski. He adds some days may still dip to cooler temperatures after Memorial Day on Monday, but he expects the low 80s until at least then.

“Looks like we are going to stay on the warmer side for a while now. There’ll be some potential variations here or there, but overall, looks like we’re going to work our way from a springtime to more of a summertime weather pattern here going forward in the next couple of weeks,” he says.
