Red Land LL team to receive rings, flag

(York) — Red Land Little League’s 2016 baseball season will open with members of the 2015 U.S. World Series Championship team receiving championship rings, according to a news release from the league.

Coaches and players will receive special rings in a ceremony as part of the league’s opening day, which will take place on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Newberry Township Complex on 2055 Old Trail Road in Etters. The league will also receive a U.S. flag that flew in honor of the team during a combat mission in southwest Asia during the ceremony, the release said.

Red Land Little League President Scott Sozanski, State Rep. Mike Regan (R-York) and Staff Sgt. Christopher Fagan of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard will also be at the ceremony, according to the release. 8

Opening day will begin with recognition of all 28 Red Land Little League teams, followed by presentation ceremonies for the rings and the flag, an exhibition game featuring the championship team against the Northern Lebanon Junior Legion team and regularly scheduled Little League games, the release said.

About 480 children ages five to 17 are registered to play in the Red Land Little League this season, according to the release.
