York-Adams home sales stay up as supply tightens
York County home sales are up 16 percent from last year, despite dwindling inventory.
(York) — Area home sales continue to increase despite a somewhat low inventory, according to Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties
In York County, 632 homes were sold through the end of February, a 16-percent increase from the same period last year. The median sale price was $144,000, a 4-percent increase over the first two months of 2015.
In neighboring Adams County, home sales through February increased 1-percent compared with January 2015, with 113 homes sold. The median sale price was $155,000, down 7 percent from the same period last year.

Home values decreased the most in West Shore School District, down 14 percent from the same period in 2015, with a median home value of $148,000.
Less homes are available for sale in York and Adams counties compared to last year, a fact that could drive up home sale prices this year, said Tony Thomas, 2016 RAYAC president.
“If the home sales continue at this pace, eventually prices should increase as well,” Thomas said.
