Wagner’s Little League WS bat to be auctioned for charity

(Undated) — The bat of Red Land Little League star Cole Wagner will be auctioned during a sold-out Penn State Alumni Association fundraiser on Friday.
Red Land manager Tom Peifer will participate in the Capital Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association’s fifth annual “A Toast to Four Diamonds” event, scheduled for 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Hershey’s Chocolate World.
Red Land Little League will donate for the silent auction a bat used by Wagner during the Little League World Series.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Four Diamonds, which supports families of children undergoing cancer treatment at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
“Cole’s bat brought great luck to our team in the Little League World Series,” Peifer said in a news release. “We’re proud to put the bat to work again for an even greater purpose; taking a swing at cancer by raising money for kids at Penn State Hershey.”
Wagner’s bat is an Anderson TechZilla 2.0. He was unable to use the Easton bats provided by Little League because his bat speed was too high and he’d break them, according to a news release.
Northeastern senior Marcus Josey is also scheduled to attend. He’s battling cancer and is a 2016 Four Diamonds child who met the Red Land team during their visit to Penn State Hershey in November, according to a news release.
