(Harrisburg) — The state is trying to determine how much a buyer might pay for the the former Harrisburg State Hospital property.

The Department of General Services is currently looking for a land planning consultant who would offer guidance through the sale process.

A handful of state agencies currently occupy the site.

The hospital closed nearly a decade ago.

Advocates have raised concerns about selling the property, arguing it should be preserved for history’s sake.

The Legislature would have to approve any sale.
