Hannah O’Sullivan plays her tee shot on the third hole during a practice round before the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club on Tuesday.

(Lancaster) — The practice rounds are nearly complete, and the nation’s top women’s golf tournament is set to start Thursday at Lancaster Country Club. Ahead of the rush of people, organizers expect things to run smoothly through the championship round Sunday.

From traffic to parking to security to first aid, U.S. Women’s Open Championship Director Barry Deach has helped plan it all.

Now, he says, after a couple of practice rounds, he’s confident.

“We love these early days, before we get into the bigger crowds later in the week,” he says.

Deach says crowds will certainly grow starting Thursday, with the largest group expected on Friday.

“We’re really good at predicting, so when you have to order buses, or get position of traffic control positions, and you go through the traffic study, all of that is kinda pre-planned based on what we have in the past, you know, 70 years of history,” Deach says.

Karrie Webb of Australia signs autographs after finishing her practice round for the U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament at Lancaster Country Club Tuesday.

He says the tournament could draw as many as 100,000 people, over the four days of play.

Most of the parking is in Park City Center in Lancaster, so traffic could backup in the area.

Buses will shuttle spectators between parking lots and Lancaster Country Club.

Deach says there will be a more formal feeling at Lancaster Country Club as the championship rounds start Thursday.

The tournament wraps up Sunday.
