State Police cruisers in 6 midstate counties now have life-saving drug

(Harrisburg) — State Police cruisers in six midstate counties are now carrying a life-saving drug.
Naloxone, also known by its brand name Narcan, can revive someone who has overdosed on opioids like heroin.
The news comes after an April announcement by the agency to put naloxone in all cars.
So far, troopers have not had to use the drug in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Perry and York counties, but municipal police in York County have saved at least seven lives since they started carrying it.
Cruisers in the Pittsburgh and Erie areas are also stocked with the antidote.
As more supplies come in, a State Police spokesman says the agency will eventually be in every cruiser statewide.
