(Hershey) — A proposed merger between two of the largest health systems in the midstate could take a step forward today.

Penn State’s Board of Trustees is set to vote on making PinnacleHealth an affiliate of Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

The new organization would be called Penn State Health.

The state Attorney General and Federal Trade Commission still need to decide on the deal.

The move is just the latest in a string of affiliations and mergers across the midstate – including Cumberland County’s Holy Spirit Health and Geisinger Health affiliation and WellSpan’s acquisition of Ephrata Community Hospital in Lancaster County.
