What to look for on Smart Talk Monday, January 5, 2015:

The first Smart Talk program of 2015 features conversations with the authors of two new books.

Flight 93: The Story, the Aftermath, and the Legacy of American Courage on 9/11 may be one of the most complete accounts of the hijacking of United Flight 93. That was the one plane taken over by terrorists that didn’t reach its final destination.

The plane crashed in a rural area of Somerset County, Pennsylvania while passengers struggled to gain control from the hijackers. The passengers had already learned during cell phone calls with family members that terrorists had crashed three other aircraft in New York and Washington.

The book’s author, Tom McMillan joins us on Smart Talk.

Also, the latest tensions between the United States and North Korea probably don’t rise to the level between the two countries after North Korea captured an American naval vessel — the USS Pueblo in 1968.

Jack Cheevers wrote Act of War: Lyndon Johnson, North Korea, and the Capture of the Spy Ship Pueblo last year and it has just been released in paperback.

Cheever appears on Monday’s Smart Talk to tell the story.
