Tom Wolf wins Dem. nomination for Gov.
(Harrisburg) —Pennsylvania’s new Democratic nominee for governor says he is the “luckiest person on the face of the Earth right now.”
Millionaire businessman Tom Wolf told supporters in York in a victory speech Tuesday night that he has a big job to do spreading the
Democratic message to all Pennsylvanians ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.
He says Governor Corbett has a record of hollowing out the state’s schools, and playing fast and loose with jobs and Pennsylvania’s natural resources.
He says it’s time again to invest in education and says “how about that for a change.”
Wolf spoke at Santander Field, the stadium for the York Revolution minor league baseball team.

Pennsylvania Democrats have chosen millionaire businessman Tom Wolf to challenge Governor Corbett in the fall.
Early returns show Wolf with a big lead over three fellow hopefuls.
Wolf’s primary victory comes after a months-long courtship of voters.
His seemingly unending series of TV ads featured his Jeep Wrangler and testimonials from his wife, his two grown daughters and employees of his kitchen cabinet company.
Voters said the folksy ads helped win them over. Wolf began them in the dead of winter after putting $10 million of his own money into the campaign.
His win sets up a race against a governor who has struggled with low approval ratings. Every Pennsylvania governor since 1970 has been awarded a second term.
Katie McGinty has released a statement on the race:
“While the results are not what we wanted, I want to congratulate Tom for running a great campaign and a well-earned victory tonight.
And I want to make it clear right now – I wholeheartedly endorse Tom Wolf, and I will be all in to help Tom Wolf defeat Tom Corbett in November! I urge all of my supporters to join me in electing Tom in November.
From the beginning of this campaign, I said that we were going to present a positive vision for Pennsylvania. A vision that focused on guaranteeing that children receive an education that will allow them a shot at the American Dream.
A vision that any kid who wants to go to college or a trade school can afford to follow their dreams. A vision that anyone willing to get out of bed every day and work hard would not live in poverty.
This campaign has been quite the experience for my family and me. Traveling to every corner of Pennsylvania, meeting people from all walks of life, from big cities and small townships, I came away inspired. Inspired by the work ethic, the compassion, and the drive to make Pennsylvania better for every generation.

The polls have closed, and the results are expected soon as Pennsylvania finds out who will compete against Governor Tom Corbett in November.
State Treasurer Rob McCord, former state Department of Environmental Protection secretary Katie McGinty, congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, and businessman Tom Wolf are all competing for the nomination.

The 36th state Senate race (northern half of Lancaster County)featuring two sitting state Representatives competing for the job.

The 103rd legislative district race (Harrisburg, Swatara Township, Steelton, Highspire)
Representative Patty Kim vs. Gina Johnson-Roberson.
The new 169th legislative district (Codorus, Heidelberg, Penn, Manheim, Shrewsbury and West Manheim townships as well as Glen Rock, Hanover, New Freedom, Jefferson and Railroad boroughs)
