How hipsters help Goodwill
(Harrisburg) — Spring has arrived and one midstate nonprofit is hoping to benefit as people do their annual cleaning.
Goodwill Keystone Area, with stores in 11 central Pennsylvania counties, wants spring cleaning to help fill its shelves.
Spokeswoman Evette Rios says some might be surprised to find out what is in demand.
“The vintage stuff is amazing. The old hats, and little suits and jackets and purses, that stuff does very well at Goodwill. So don’t feel like ‘Oh, it’s just so dated.’ There’s somewhere out there who is just going to love it and the money is going to go towards great, great things.”
Donations are tax deductible and accepted at every Goodwill store.
The money raised from the sales goes towards job training, and other programs designed to help people — including those with disabilities, returning veterans and single mothers.
