Lewistown row home fire ravages neighborhood

(Lewistown) –Nearly 20 homes have been severely damaged after a massive row home fire in Mifflin County.

The blaze broke out just after 6:30 p.m. yesterday in the Juniata Terrace section of Lewistown and spread quickly.It burned of control for nearly four hours.

The fire went to six alarms with fire companies from five counties responding.

Of 27 row homes on the block, 18 were either destroyed or heavily damaged and three sustained light damage.

Two firemen suffered minor injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families, and the cause is under investigation.
