FEMA urges Pennsylvanians to make emergency plan

(Washington) — It’s been a relatively quiet Atlantic Hurricane Season so far, but it’s not over until November 30th.

Tim Manning, a deputy administrator at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), says families need to know what to do, and where to go, if they’re not all in the same place when disaster strikes.

“Have an emergency plan that includes who to call, who the kids should call to reconnect with family if you can’t reach directly through,” he says, “maybe a family member out of town somewhere in case the phone lines are clogged.”

Manning says only 43 percent of American households have an emergency plan.

He’s urging more Pennsylvanians to make a plan during this National Preparedness Month.
