Nittany Lions host Kent State this afternoon
(State College) — Penn State will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss when it welcomes the Kent State Golden Flashes to Beaver Stadium this afternoon.
It will be the Nittany Lions’ last non-conference game of the season, and Coach Bill O’Brien wants his team to get off to a fast start.
“Let’s do things that we know we’re good at, that we know the kids have confidence in, and let’s get out there and move the ball,” O’Brien says. “I think we have a mixture of a younger and an older team and I think that’s part of it, you know. I think as the guys get more and more into these games I think they’ll start better.”
True freshman quarterback Christian Hackenberg appears to be thriving in O’Brien’s offense. He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time in just three games. Hackenberg has thrown for 851 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions on the season.
Today’s game is another BlueOut at Beaver Stadium in support of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
