Forest managers want public input

(Harrisburg) — Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is updating its State Forest Resource Management Plan.

The Bureau of Forestry’s Jeff Woleslagle says an online survey has been developed to help collect public input.

“Management of our state forest system is an ever-changing undertaking,” he explains. “There are constantly new challenges and best practices, so it’s important that we hear from the public as we begin to update the plan that oversees the management of our 2.2 million acre forest system.”

Woleslagle says some of the biggest challenges include invasive species, development and competing recreational interests.

The survey takes about ten minutes to complete. Public meetings will also be scheduled once the survey data is compiled.
