GEA Refrigeration aims to add 30 jobs in York County

(York) — A York-based company plans to add at least 30 jobs in th emidstate.

GEA Refrigeration North America, Inc. is working to expand its production capacity at its Manchester Township plant in York County. It says it will retain 247 workers.

The improvement project at its 151,000 square-foot production and technology center is geared toward meeting demand from the oil and gas industry. The facility manufactures process refrigeration and gas compression systems used to refine and separate hydrocarbons and CO2 compression systems used for enhanced oil recovery.

“We’re delighted with GEA Refrigeration North America’s continued success and growth in York County,” says Darrell Auterson, president and CEO of the York County Economic Alliance. “This is another fine example of state and local collaboration to help facilitate job growth and investment from one of our vital community and state economic engines.”

The company worked with the state Department of Community and Economic Development and is utilizing a $65,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant and $60,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits. GEA says it will invest more than $1.83 million to purchase new equipment and complete infrastructure enhancements at its existing site.

GEA Refrigeration produces industrial refrigeration systems for the food, beverage, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, among others. It currently employs more than 300 people in the U.S.
