Pedaling for pups at Dream Ride Lancaster

(Lancaster) — United Disability Services is marking a decade of participation in Dream Ride Lancaster. It’s one of their top fundraisers for the group’s Service Dogs Program.

Ten future service dogs are depending on community support to fund their training.

UDS program manager Lori Breece hopes to raise 12 thousand dollars for the program at this year’s Dream Ride Lancaster on September 21st.

“It’s the opportunity for our volunteers and service dogs to actually be able to thank the riders that ride to raise money for our service dogs program,” Breece says. “You might know that there are no government grants available for organizations to train service animals — at least if there are I haven’t found them.”

The group’s dogs-in-training range from 17 weeks to two years-old. Breece says each will wind up in the 33 county UDS region in Pennsylvania.

The United Disability Service Dogs Program is one of two dozen area charities that stand to benefit from this year’s Dream Ride Lancaster.
