RST: Child abduction heightens concern
What to look for on Radio Smart Talk Friday, July 19:
Central Pennsylvanians were shocked when they heard the news last week that a five-year-old girl was missing from her grandmother’s home in Lancaster County. Police and the community converged on the area to search for the youngster.
Two hours after she went missing, two teenagers saw a man push a young girl that the matched the description of the missing child from a car. The girl ran toward the teens, who took her to her grandmother’s house.
The girl told police she was abducted and sexually assaulted.
Earlier this week, police arrested 73-year-old Harold Leroy Herr and charged him with the offense. Herr had spent 20 years in prison after being convicted of a similar crime in 1990.
On Friday’s program, Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman will discuss the abduction while Kristen Houser of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape will provide information on sexual predators, how to protect children, and what parents should know.
