Amtrak service resumed between Harrisburg and Lancaster
(Manheim) —Up to 80 homes and businesses were evacutated in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, due to a propane car that caught fire on a freight train.
The evacuation order has been lifted and the Red Cross Shelter has closed its temporary shelter.
Amtrak’s Keystone Service has resumed between Harrisburg and Lancaster.
The first westbound train through the affected area was train 649, which left Philadelphia at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The first eastbound train through the affected area was train 656, which departed Harrisburg at approximately 5:35 p.m.
The car caught fire around 11:00 a.m. today in Rapho Township and one person had suffered burns by the time crews arrived.
Amtrak says passengers can expect a full schedule of normal service tomorrow.
It says passengers who have paid, but choose not to travel due to the disruption can receive a refund or a voucher.
