(Lancaster) — A massive fundraising effort to help midstate nonprofit organizations is being organized for the second year in a row.

The Lancaster County Community Foundation says the 2013 Extraordinary Give will take place on November 22nd.

Last year, the philanthropic effort collected nearly $1.7-million for 192 organizations, including witf.

Foundation CEO Sam Bressi says the outpouring of support is remarkable because the act of giving is typically very private.

“It’s a solitary act and this event was able — in some way — to make it a community celebration, and people felt connected,” Bressi explains. “I’d love for this coming year, to have this event be bigger and better.”

Bressi says the positive response to last year’s event will likely encourage more groups and donors to participate this fall.

He says registration is currently open for non-profits to be part of the drive. Several businesses have partnered with the Community Foundation to provide additional incentives for donors.

witf plans to participate in this year’s Extraordinary Give.
