York County communities team up to boost regional economy

(York) — A pair of York County communities is working together to boost economic development and promote cooperation among businesses.

The York County Economic Alliance has released an economic development for Hanover Borough and Penn Township which identifies ways to spur the regional economy.

Blanda Nace, the organization’s senior development manager, says one way to do that is to improve what he calls the region’s “quality of place.” “When a company is looking at a community to locate their business, they want to look at the place where they’re going to be located. So we can encourage a better quality of place to help to locate the employers who then will hire employees who will have a great quality of life.”

Some of the proposals include ramping up downtown Hanover revitalization efforts, improving transportation, and helping students connect with career opportunities.

Nace says the communities will next work on a joint plan, as well as a larger regional initiative that may include municipalities in neighboring Adams County.
