WANTED: Young Classical Musicians!

 

From the Top with host Christopher O’Riley features outstanding young classical musicians from across the country, broadcast on nearly 250 stations nationwide. From the Top comes to the Gettysburg Festival this June 18 and leads off 10 full days of arts, culture and cuisine.  Who is eligible to be on the show?

  • Soloists
  • Composers
  • Small Ensembles (2 to 8 performers)
  • Large Ensembles (more than 8 performers)
  • Ages 8-18
  • Not yet enrolled full time in college or conservatory
  • United States resident (or significant training connection to the U.S.)

Block_2758_for_online_useWITF will host an exhibit of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt in the Lowengard Atrium of the WITF Public Media Center in Harrisburg, PA from Tuesday, December 1, 2009 until Friday, January 1, 2010.  The display is being co-sponsored by the AIDS Community Alliance of South Central PA and David M. Leas and Benjamin C. Dunlap, Jr..

WITF Woodlands: Improving Communities PDF Print

leafAnyone who has traveled along the Harrisburg Greenbelt since Saturday can see it, too. The more than 440 trees that were planted along a portion of the Greenbelt are one of three of WITF’s Woodlands, and a testament to WITF’s dedication to making Central Pennsylvania a better place for all of us to live.

 

WITF Woodlands is an initiative in which WITF contributors donate money, and, in return, a tree seedling is planted in a designated area. In addition to the trees planted along the Harrisburg Greenbelt, there is a WITF Woodland in Lancaster and Carlisle will be receiving a Woodland this spring.

On Friday, October 9, WITF hosted an American Experience Viewing Party at The Majestic Theater in Gettysburg with the Littlestown Jaycees at 6PM.  The evening featured a film, American Experience presents The 1930's: The Civilian Conservation Corps., and discussion led by Gettysburg College History Professor Michael Birkner.
